Preface
Within the ranks of Team Rocket there will be brief mention of Team Jet and Team Missile. Team Rocket's history is not without these competing teams tied with it. Just as big and historical as Team Rocket is Team Jet. Once ruled by "M", Team Jet was ruled under Stacy Moon for several years. Within the years of Stacy's reign her older brother, Guy Moon, be-wed a young Virginia Sakaki. Their marriage was not united by love, but by obligation and a sense of duty for both of their future teams. Their newly joined lives were filled with tragedy and hostility. Giovanni felt the marriage would shape his daughter into a more respectable heir, as his opinion of her at the time was less than favorable. As "another man's problem", Virginia became more secretive and self destructive. Her new behavior was unexpected, but little worry to her father. Eventually Guy and Virginia grew to love each other, but were never without their problems. In the meantime, Stacy Moon was engaged and later on wed to Tyler Montrose, heir and commander of the Team Missle army. Stacy and Ty were the picture perfect couple among the world powers until Stacy died in childbirth, only 15 years into her reign. The position was handed down, by default, to Guy Moon. The Moon-Montrose heir was never heard from again and is assumed to be in line to rule Team Missile.
Stacy Moon was diabolical and cruel in her methods. She often attacked Team Rocket and actively strived to punish Virginia for reasons unknown, other than she hated the marriage between her brother and the Rocket heiress. Rocket bases were under fire several times in a season for many years regardless of the peace treaty Virginia attempted to enforce over and over. Virginia's trust in Team Jet, though in possession of her husband, was never fully restored. Team Jet was forever deemed "The Enemy". Little interaction is had between the opposing teams now, even though the married couple often visit enemy bases.
You in the Team
You see a young woman with light purple hair. She seems to be in a hurry, holding needle-pins in her mouth, a yard of black cloth in one hand, and a pin-cushion in the other. You raise a hand to grab her and half way through her rush she exchanges a glance with you. Her brows furrow together and she calls over her shoulder with clenched teeth.
"Matilda! This one's for you!" With that she shuffles away quickly.
You're then greeted by a moderately tall woman with long silver hair and piercing eyes that match. Her uniform is much different from the others you've noticed--it's a short dress with carefully sewn designs and a badge over her left breast. She eyes you up and down and then shakes her head, plastering a forced smile on her face.
"Well, I guess you're the new recruit. My name's Matilda. I'm the official Division Leader of the Elite Squad in these parts. And you are..? Well, never mind. There will be time for mindless chit-chat after I've shown you around. Come along now, I don't have all day."
Matilda's hand gracefully falls in front of your nose while she walks in an impatient manner. "To the left, in front of these double doors that you just walked through here is the meeting room. The boss holds her formal events on the first floor--that's where we are, by the way. And if you'll take a step outside, you can see the dormitories just to the right." She leads you to the doors, opening one for you to see. The day is bright and makes the shining metals of the headquarters noticeable. In the distance is a forest which looks painted onto the horizon. Even a river that travels before it that seems to disappear into the sun that rests in an almost purple sky.
"You can't see it from here, but the sky looks that way because of ancient Pokemon magic. Well over 25 years ago our leader, Virginia, discovered the Trinity region. She also found out about all the mystery and magic that Trinity offered and decided to make a home for Team Rocket here. If anything could be said about the boss it's her endearing soft-spot for Pokemon and their magic. That's how Mirage City looks so different from the rest of Trinity--because it is protected high in the air by the ancient Pokemon of the region. Only Team Rocket members or clever trainers can find their way up. Virginia made a riddle for eager challengers to solve--if they failed they would remain on the ground, if they succeeded a portal will open and carry them safely to the center of Mirage City. But enough about that. You clearly already know how to get here. Follow me."
Matilda closes the door and leads you to the elevator. She takes you to floor two where you're met with another receptionist's desk before another pair of doors. "This is the second level. Behind those doors is the lounge. Rockets are often found on their leisure in there. I trust you won't slack off as much as the rest of these pathetic recruits..." She motions down the hall; a very short hall. "There's our supply rooms. They have mostly office supplies and spare uniforms. Gadgets are either assigned or found on another level. Back inside now."
Without hesitation Matilda presses floor three and the doors close quickly. You notice strange numbers on some of the buttons such as L1, L2, and so on until one reads LM about 5 numbers down. She catches your curious stare and folds her arms, waiting for the elevator to finish it's trip. "Those are the labs right there. They're underground. L1 has a general doctor's practice, waiting area, pharmacy and out patient surgery ward. L2 is Fertility, Gene splicing, DNA studies, and Neonatal Unit. L3 is chemical testing, drug production... other confidential studies. L4 and 5.. you don't want to know. And then that one, right there at the very bottom... That's the morgue." Matilda grins wickedly at you as the door opens.
To your surprise you see the same purple haired girl from earlier. Matilda only stops the door with her foot, not leaving the elevator this time. "This is Division X productions. That girl right there is in charge of designing and maintaining uniform quality. I won't even bother taking you to the fourth level. Its just the factory. Giant floor with tons of machines. You wouldn't be interested." Matilda presses the button for 5 and you travel up. The door opens to yet another receptionist desk, only this time there are many desks around. Men and women in tank tops and shorts are busy talking amongst themselves. Matilda waves a hand, bored. "As you might have guessed, this is yet another Division X level. Here is the employee gym. Sometimes agents are required to train under a Division X representative... It sucks." Matilda bitterly pressed the number 7. "And the sixth level is the in-door pool and Pokemon arenas. If you ever feel like battling, they have special rooms built to withstand all the crazy Pokemon powers."
The doors open again to a wall with 5 portraits hung before the elevator. This time, Matilda steps out in to the hall. She points to the left "Rocket Reports and mailboxes are down that-a-way." She points to the right "And conference rooms, as well as the boss's office are that way. You'll see security gets really tight from this level on up. Division 7 primarily roam around these parts for the boss's safety. What lies beyond is top secret information. Level 8 is our security system--guards survey the camera system to make sure there are no disturbances in the work place, Level 9, if you noticed from outside, has tall, strange walls with balconies all around the building. That's because we keep some of our commercial jets there. Level 10 is the same, only Division 6 studies their subjects there. Level 11 is yet more Division 6 projects and level 12 is their locker room. Level 13, well...." Matilda grinned with a thought "Only Class A is permitted to go there. Let's leave it at that. Anything higher is storage that you need not concern yourself with so there's no point for you to ever go there!" She seems to be hiding something about the higher levels, but it would be a good idea not to press the subject.
"Well, had enough?" Matilda steps back inside the elevator and presses level 1. As you travel down she looks you up and down again. "Mm, make sure you're in proper agent attire when you come to work." Her eyes narrow. "I HATE seeing agents out of uniform. Besides that the boss expects one new Pokemon from each Class C recruit a month. That can easily be done with a monthly mission. A new mission is posted every month called a 'monthly' and you can pick up honor and badges that way. The more honor and badges you have, more likely the boss will promote you. If you're the first one to present the subject matter to her she'll also reward you with a special badge that no one else gets. Even hang your portrait and name in the Hall of Honor. It's a big deal. You're also expected to have a professional and 'Meamuki Roketto Dan' attitude. None of this 'yanakanjii' crap. Be grateful to be here."
The door opens to the first floor again. You and Matilda step out onto the tiled floor and she puts both hands on your shoulders, staring you deep in the eye. "You're part of a big underground Pokemon exploitation organization now.. We are your new family. We are your ONLY Family. When you signed your name you signed your soul to Virginia Moon. Our job is to protect you now, while you achieve her vision." She smirks, touching the underside of your chin. "Don't look so scared. You'll do great. We watch out for our own, you know? No one is going to let anything happen to you as long as you brandish the malevolent scarlet insignia." Your nerves are calmed and she takes her hands back to her side. "You're alright, kid. Now get going. Team Rocket isn't going to run itself! And if you ever need anything.. problem or question, the boss is always around and is happy to talk you through any concerns. I suggest checking with the Rocket Reports for any issues with teammates and ranks you may have. Now get outta my sight."
Matilda's cold gaze returns and your journey in to Team Rocket officially begins... Good luck, agent!
